Cannes Film Festival Rumours
The 62nd Cannes Film Festival (May 13-24, 2009) has almost finalised its programme that will be announced on April 23 at a press conference in Cannes. However, there are all sorts of speculations: According to Cine Europa, the festival is set to include an impressive list of directors who have previously won honours on the Croisette. Among the European titles are Looking for Eric by the UK’s Ken Loach, Antichrist by Denmark’s Lars von Trier, Broken Embraces [trailer, film focus] by Spain’s Pedro Almodovar, The White Tape by Austria’s Michael Haneke, Mr Nobody by Belgium’s Jaco van Dormael and Vincere by Italy’s Marco Bellocchio. MUMBAI- It's a lethal combination and a sure number one hit in international charts, predict Bollywood insiders. Pop star Kylie Minogue sings for Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman's while Bollywood's ace choreograpger Farah Khan makes Kylie dance a la Bollywood style in Indian film 'Blue' directed by Anthony D'Souza. Indian film industry will not grow in 2009: FICCI & KPMG
Mumbai- Finally, the international recession has hit the Indian Entertainment Industry, indicates a joint FICCI-KPMG report. However, there are indications of long-term growth. Following years of rapid growth, the combined revenues of the Indian film industry are expected to remain flat in 2009 at around $2.2bn (Rs109.2bn), says the report. Read more »

Delhi-based AJK Mass Communication Research Centre of Jamia Millia Islamia, Indian university, won top honours at the annual Sony World Photography Awards under the Student Focus category for the Asia region. Berlinale 2009 – European films grabbed ten of the 12 awards (including six out of eight Bears) at the 59th Berlin International Festival, Saturday, Feb 14, 2009. Recession! What recession? India signs more film deals with Hollywood
Berlin. As the Berlin International Film Festival gets into a full swing there are reports of Indian Reliance Big Entertainment (RBE) signing development deals with a number of Hollywood ventures, including a two picture agreement with 'Pretty Woman' star Julia Roberts' Red Om Films and Brett Ratner's Rat Entertainment. The latest announcement was made in Berlin by Reliance Big Entertainment's chairman Amit Khanna and president Rajesh Sawhney.
