4th India International Women Film Festival 08 invites entries

"We have a general theme for our festival : Women Behind the Camera .. to establish "female gaze" behind the camera as we believe women are not just meant to be looked at on screen as an object of pleasure," says Shyamali Banerjee, Director of India International Women Film Festival. In an interview with India-EU Film Initiative, she informs "We do accept films directed by women only for the main competitive section for fiction and documentaries ( Cinema International), followed by non-competitive sections like MALE VOICE, JOINT HAND, FOCUS INSTITUTE, CHILDREN FILM which are not restricted to women directors only."

Shyamali Bannerjee, Director of the festivalWomen directors from all European countries are welcome to send their films for the next edition of her festival. "We are inviting film entries for the forthcoming 4th India International Women Film Festival 2008, taking place from 7th- 14th Dec' 20008 in New Delhi, India, at SIRI FORT AUDITORIUM COMPLEX," says Ms Banerjee.

The festival is being organised by the International Women Film Festival Society of India in association with the Ministry of I&B, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of External Affairs.

"The films have to be completed between 2006 December to 2008 October. Aspirant and promising women directors are invited to send a preview tape with all English subtitles just for a PREVIEW before the deadline of 30th Sep' 08 ends, " adds the director of the festival.

"All women directors from across the world do take part in this festival since its inception in the year 2005. Films should be directed by women, not produced," clarifies Ms Banerjee.
