Chandni Chowk To China: Biggest Bollywood release in the USA

LA- Indian star Akshay Kumar, it seems, has decided to to do better than all Khans in marketing his films. His latest film 'Chandni Chowk To China' is touted as the biggest screen presentation by its distributors. Warner Bros Worldwide Anti-Piracy Group will mount a targeted campaign to protect the worldwide release of its upcoming Bollywood kung-fu comedy Chandni Chowk To China, which will open day-and-date in more than 35 markets on January 16 as part of a 40-territory release.

According to Screen Daily nChandni Chowk To China will open on more than 125 screens in more than 50 markets in the US and Canada, making it the biggest Bollywood release in North American history. It will open also in the UK, India, Australia and Germany on January 16.

"We know that audience excitement and anticipation for Chandni Chowk To China is high, especially in the North American Hindi and UK community," Warner Bros' vice president of Latin America and Asia Pacific worldwide anti-piracy operations Lucia Rangel said.

"Unfortunately, this means that pirate demand for the film will be high as well. But anyone trying to illegally camcord, sell or distribute our film on the Internet should be aware that we will be very, very vigilant in our efforts to protect this film."

Anti-piracy measures include monitoring screenings, scanning the internet to identify illegal uploading of the film and files and raiding stores and markets.

Nikhil Advani directed Chandni Chowk To China, which stars Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Mithun Chakraborty, Ranvir Shorey and Gordon Liu. The story charts a cook's journey to become a martial arts master.

According to another media report John Landis, the director of Beverly Hills Cop 3, Blues Brothers, Coming To America and Trading Places, Rob Cohen of Dragonheart, The Fast & Furious, Bruce Lee Story and McG, and who has just finished Terminator 4, were some of the topnotch Hollywood directors who turned up for the Los Angeles premiere of Chandni Chowk To China, on Wednesday, January 7 night at the posh Steve J. Ross theatre, right inside the Warner Brother premises.
