Sony HVR-S270E is in demand
February, 2008, London. We at India-EU Film Initiative believe the new technology, particularly, the digital one, is a great leveller. Almost any one can become a filmmaker. Well, at least a short filmmaker. You can do this with your mobile. Digital equipment is far more widely available than traditional 16mm and 35mm film cameras.
Among professionals the buzz is Sony HVR-S270E, released in 2008. There are reports in London that demand is very high, with a large number of orders with deposits already taken for the hand-held HVR-Z7E as well as the larger, shoulder-mounted HVR-S270E. Prices on internet range between 6,932.00 Euros to £5,399.00 + VAT (UK).
Below, we provide you the details, but please bear it mind that it's not a review. The details have been supplied by Sony.
The HVR-S270E offers the same advantages of the HVR-Z7E but in a shoulder-mount camcorder with larger tape sizes and high power batteries.
New HDV camcorders are seen as a natural progression for the HVR-Z1E, bridging the gap between tape and solid state by supporting both.
Hybrid recording
The HVR-Z7E features hybrid recording by offering recording on traditional tape and/or CompactFlash memory cards via a clip on accessory supplied as standard with the unit. The HVR-Z7E utilises the same battery system as the HVR-Z1E and HVR-V1E, cutting down on initial start up costs for existing users. The unit records HDV, DVCAM and DV, so fits into production companies’ existing editing systems, on the majority of the world television standards. Through a chargeable software upgrade which will available through PrimeSupport, 24P and 60i modes can be added.
